I also love deadlines, because I believe that they are an incentive to work better and to have concrete goals.

Personally I don't work as a data engineer, so I don't know the precise dynamics of this job, but I think it's important to reserve some time during the day just to work on the specific tasks to respect deadlines, maybe turning off everything else (email, phone, etc.).

As you said, if a deadline expires without respecting it, it's also an organisational problem.
